After watching sixty-two Indian movies I came to the conclusion that to make it to my “Favourite List” the following criteria should be met, whereby I consider the first two points as the most important ones:
- Does it TOUCH ME (to the extent that it makes me cry)?
- Did I learn any lessons from it? Does it convey a message?
- Does it make me laugh?
- Are there good actors/actresses featured?
- Does it raise a contemporary topic?
- Does it include good songs?
- Is the story good from start to finish?
- Is it a pure Indian movie (without involving foreign actors and does it reflect some cultural aspects)?
- Would I watch it over and over again? I realised that a great movie doesn’t need special effects, a big budget, foreign sites, top actors or designer clothes. For me a movie which offers all of this could still be considered as poor in the end if there is no emotion, no message conveyed and therefore no lesson learnt from it.
